CPO at the Western Pool & Spa Show

We took our CPO class to the Western Pool & Spa Show (WPSS) in Long Beach, and it was great!  (If you look through the slide show, you’ll see some highlights of our trip.)  The weather in Long Beach was just awesome, too!…..and, as you can see, we even stole away to have dinner (and celebrate Steve’s birthday) on the Queen Mary at our favorite restaurant: Sir Winstons.

The WPSS is the premier show of the pool service industry and is held at the Long Beach Convention Center.  This year was exceptional in that the show floor had to be expanded to accommodate all the vendors — AND the various seminars and educational opportunities were more numerous than ever.

Our CPO class was actually held at the Renaissance Hotel (across the street from the Convention Center).  Class registration initially started out slow, but gradually picked up to the point where we had to reserve a larger banquet room to accommodate everyone!  Most of the students were seasoned pool service guys with lots of firsthand field experience,  so their participation and contribution in class was certainly welcome.  They ALL left with a new or re-newed fundamental knowledge of pool/spa operation (with a little fun and laughter thrown into the mix).  Thanks a bunch guys and gals!

In addition to our CPO class on Thursday and Friday, we presented a preparatory class on Saturday afternoon for the IPSSA Water Chemistry Test.  The class filled up to standing room only to listen about basic water chemistry!  A lot of material was covered quickly in the 2 hour session, but many stayed until the end.  So, thanks, guys, for all the input and questions in class and best of luck to those that decided to take the IPSSA Water Chemistry exam afterwards!

We wish to thank all the WPSS volunteer staff for your accommodation and support of our CPO class!  A special thanks goes to Eric Neilson, WPSS President, and to Celia Gardner, volunteer in charge of organizing and scheduling the seminar classes.  Thanks guys — we hope next year will be as great — and even better!
