What is a CPO Certification?

CPO stands for Certified Pool/Spa Operator. It is a nationally recognized certification that teaches safe and proper pool and spa operation.

Anyone responsible for maintaining or operating a public or commercial pool or spa, including apartment complexes, hotels, gyms, HOAs, and recreation centers. While some states only require CPO certification for public or commercial pools, many private pool service professionals also choose to get certified to meet local requirements, increase credibility, and stay up to date with safety standards.

Many state and local health departments require at least one Certified Pool Operator on-site. Requirements vary by location.

CPO certification is valid for five years, beginning on the last day of the month in which you become certified.
